The red poppy honours the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces community. It is also an expression of support for those who serve today and of hope for a peaceful future. Wearing one is a personal choice.
Its association with remembrance grew from the poppies that flowered on the battlefields of the First World War. The flower became a lasting way to remember lives lost and those affected by conflict.
